Positive Outlooks and Inspiring News STILL SELLS

Jun 08, 2011

The JCI slogan “Be Better” indubitably inspires people to look ahead with infectious enthusiasm. Our members, for the longest time, have been harping on the need for positive change. The TOYM awards have successfully heralded this proud legacy since 1959.

The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Award: —popularly known as the TOYM is arguably STILL the most prestigious youth award in the country today. This is a great opportunity to highlight the JCI cause to the general public as well as to prospective quality members for the benefit of our continuous growth in membership development.

OBJECTIVES OF THE TOYM Search
1. To recognize the outstanding achievements of our nation’s youth which have
benefited significantly the community and the nation;
2. To focus public attention and confer national recognition to these achievements and contributions.
3. To inspire others, especially the youth, with the recognition to these achievements and/or leadership of the TOYM awardees-leaders who have demonstrated vigor and enterprises in tackling the problems of society and offering solutions;
4. To live the JCI Creed and consider as a good measure of performance by the
awardee. While other awards give recognition purely to humanitarian work, the TOYM Awards is uniquely given for outstanding leadership and excellence and contributions to humanity.

The 2011 TOYM Theme: “ServExceLead… Creating Meaningful Lives for Others” encapsulates JCI’s never ending pursuit of excellence in leadership for nation building. JCI Senator Josel Antonio N. Gaston heads this year’s search committee, himself a TOYM Search team member for the past 5 years.

In sync with National President Bernard Dy’s vision of One Team, the TOYM 2011 Search Committee guided by honor and the TOYM ideals, assures JCI Philippines that it will protect the integrity of the revered TOYM Awards.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.toym.org, www.jciphil.com. and are also available at the JCIP Headquarters and various JCI Chapters offices nationwide. Deadline for submission of nominations and technical requirements are on 15 September 2011.

Heroes Create Heroes

Aug 09, 2010

Our theme this year highlights the role models in our community and their importance in serving as inspiration to the young.

Ours is a challenge worthy of heroes.  We believe this country needs more of them:  heroes who are in each one of us, heroes whose passion to their work inspires others, heroes who are making a change to affect the future.

This year’s TOYM continues this ultimate task.  We are calling on the heroes of our lifetimes because would be heroes need their heroes too.

Let’s start this chain of heroism through the TOYM.

New TOYM Logo

Aug 09, 2010

This year’s TOYM Search Team partnered with Eggshell Advertising to repackage the TOYM logo and look to appeal more to the young.

We came up with this logo.  To identify this search from other TOYMs in other countries, this logo incorporates two salient features of the search that is distinctly Filipino namely, the colors of the Philippine flag and the TOYM trophy which was specially made by National Artist and TOYM awardee, Napoloeon Abueva.
